A photo session doesn't mean that we all sit pretty and smile for the camera. A photo session means, we run trough the grass, we build a snowman. There are tickles and giggles, snuggles and kisses. That is what your family is all about. On a normal day, do you ever really sit still, all together, and smile in one direction? My guess is no, because the smiles in a family are always directed at someone else, not at a lens just for the sake of a photo.
